Details
While the Osprey is not technically a helicopter but rather a tilt-rotor aircraft, the similarities are enough that it seems to warrant inclusion here. With its propellers facing forward, it flies like an airplane, but by tilting them up, it is able to take off, land, hover, and fly in a fashion much more like a helicopter.
The MV-22 does not serve to transport the president but rather to transport support personnel accompanying the president when he is traveling via Marine One. It took over this role several years ago from a fleet of CH-53E Super Stallions and CH-46 Sea Knights.
